One niche that only a few CPALead members have attempted (as far as I've seen) has been proxies. Unfortunately, those who have attempted it have failed almost completely, because they're implementing the gateway in a less-than-intelligent way.

First, in case you don't know, a proxy site is a site that lists (usually by scraping from other proxy sites) lists of proxy servers that people can connect to. These are in very high demand online because with a proxy server you can appear to be coming from a place you're not. So, for example, if you're located in India and wanting to stream a show on a website which only allows US visitors because of copyright issues, you could get a US proxy and “trick” the site into thinking you're in the US, thereby allowing you access to the content.

Most people who have tried using CPALead's gateways with proxy sites have just thrown up the gateway and hoped people filled it out. However, in order to be successful, use the following method (or a variation thereof):

purchase or have a script written that gets proxies that are working so that your visitors actually get a service out of their visit to your site
2.

when you have your proxy site set up, use “pagination” to divide your pages of proxies up – don't list them all on one html document, but rather separate them into several different pages, each hopefully dynamically created using your script
3.

give away page 1 for free, but only give a sample on it – maybe a random 5 proxies. Because of the nature of proxy sites, very few of them work in the first place, so it's likely none of these 5 will be what the user is looking for, so they'll go to page 2
4.

on page 2, put up the gateway, but allow the close button on it. Some people will fill it out not realizing they can close the gateway, but most will probably just close the gateway and continuing trying out proxies to find one that works for them
5.

on page 3, which many users will inevitably get to (especially if you limit it to, say, 5 proxies per page), put another gateway up (create a different one on CPALead.com) but make this one without a close button.



What you've now done is gotten your users “hooked” on your site – they know your proxies work, but maybe the ones they've tried are just too slow or overused – so now they've inveseted their time into your site and want to keep going through to find a proxy that works for them. That means they're much more likely to actually do a survey and make you cash.

You might also try offering “premium” proxies that you get from a pay site or somewhere else that's better than the normal proxy services, and allow people to access this list by doing a survey once a day.
